Dollar Tree Expands in Chico
07/19/14

(Chico) Retail growth continues in Chico as Dollar Tree expands its store footprint in the Skypark Plaza Shopping Center. Dollar Tree is leasing an additional 1,100 square feet of shopping space adjacent to its existing store, giving the bargain retailer another 20 feet of prime frontage at its corner location at the entrance of the center on the Skyway near Notre Dame Blvd. As an anchor tenant, Dollar Tree will now offer more than 14,000 square feet of merchandise including the most trusted national and regional brands, ranging from housewares, cleaning supplies and snacks, to health products, toys and gifts.

The expansion is just the start of big improvements coming to Skypark Plaza. A new drive through Starbucks Coffee has been approved for the corner of Skyway & Notre Dame Blvd, adding even more energy to one of Chico’s busiest shopping centers.

For those who like to shop local, the beloved Cal Java Coffee Roasters is still the “go to” coffee destination in Chico, and will remain in the shopping center. Customers can continue to enjoy all the fresh baked pastries and locally roasted coffee that Cal Java offers with the same great customer service and commitment to excellence.

In fact, the entire Skypark Plaza will soon undergo a major façade remodeling and improvement project with an appealing contemporary new look that will be sure to attract more shoppers, increase sales and add great value to merchants.

In addition to Dollar Tree, Skypark Plaza is anchored by Raley’s and Ross, as well as junior anchors JoAnn Fabrics, Sleep Train Mattresses and Tuesday Morning. Skypark Plaza is considered the premier “one stop shopping experience” with services including dental / medical, clothing, auto care, nails, mail services, dry cleaning, banking, rentals, and a wonderful variety of restaurants. We are pleased to report continued success with lease renewals, showing our tenants commitment to the center and to the community.

Skypark Plaza is professionally managed by Investec Management Corp and a local presence from Knorr Management, Inc. Leasing is being handled by brokers Ken Miller and Mike Donnelly of Coldwell Banker Commercial.

Chico Retail Trends
08/13/13

The Chico retail market trends are still a bit turbulent as the economy recovers and shakes out from the lingering affects of the Great Reality Check (i.e. Recession). Asking prices for retail buildings are down but appear to be flattening out. Actual sales prices continue to roller coaster up and down, and are currently under $200 per sq. ft. Asking rents also remain down. But new retail stores including Dick's Sporting Goods, BevMo, Chipolte, Bulldog Taqueria and others show confidence is back.
